Enrolment at Rotokauri School
Enrolment at Rotokauri School is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school office. An application form must be completed for all students wishing to enrol at Rotokauri School. In and out-of-zone application forms are available from the school office.

Enrolment at Rotokauri School welcomes students residing within our designated zone, providing them with an inclusive and supportive learning environment where they can thrive academically and actively contribute to our close-knit school community.

Ballot
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone.
The board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.

Rotokauri School Enrolment Zone
Effective from 01 January 2018
The guidelines for development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.
Home Zone
Home Zone All students who live within the home zone described below shall be eligible to enrol at the school.
Starting at the intersection of Exelby Road and Te Kowhai Road, head east to the intersection of Burbush Road and Te Kowhai Road. Te Kowhai Road is not in zone. All of Exelby and Burbush Roads are in zone. From the intersection of Burbush Road and Te Kowhai Road, head east to State Highway 1/Mangaharakeke Drive and follow it south to Te Wetini Drive.
Head south west along Te Wetini Drive to the round-about with Akoranga Road (Akoranga Road is not in zone) and continue to the Te Wetini Drive/Taiatea Drive intersection. The boundary extends south down Taiatea Drive (excluding (Pukenga Ave/Iwi Road), through the round-about with Rotokauri Road, to the Kawariki Drive/Rotokauri Road intersection. Rotokauri Road addresses from the Kawariki Drive intersection are in zone.
The zone turns down Kawariki Drive (to include all addresses on this road) to Brymer Road (including roads such as Hilldale, City View, and Horseshoe Terrace, Wetland Rise, Rengarenga Close and Patatee Terrace). From the Kawariki Road/Brymer Road intersection, the boundary extends south along Brymer Road to Bagust Road. Brymer Road from number 156 inclusive, is in zone. Baverstock Road is not in zone.
Follow Bagust Road back to Rotokauri Road. All of Bagust Road, O’Brien Road, Hillview Road and Hockly Road are in zone. Follow Rotokauri Road into Laxon Road and turn into Lindsay Road. All of Lindsay Road is in zone. From the intersection of Lindsay Road and Cemetery Road, head north to the intersection of Laxon Road and Perkins Road. Cemetery Road and Perkins Road are not in zone. Laxon Road north of the intersection with Perkins Road is in zone (from number 84). From the intersection of Laxon Road and Perkins Road, head north east to number 194A Duck Road, just south of the intersection of Duck Road and Fullerton Road. From here continue north to the starting point at Exelby Road and Te Kowhai Road.
Duck Road starting at number 194A is in zone. Fullerton Road is not in zone. 2 Note: Both sides of all streets and roads included in the above description are included unless otherwise stated.


Out of zone enrolment
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
As per the enrolment scheme legislation, applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:
- First Priority is not applicable as the school does not have a special programme.
- Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
- Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
- Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
- Fifth Priority will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
- Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, Selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions by the Secretary. Under Section 11G (1) on the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
